TERRORVISION 3000

Award Nominee: Piala Citra Best Animation 2018

Roles Performed: Executive Creative Director, Creator, Story & Scripting Lead, Visual Development, Art Director, Production Assistance, Sound Design, Voice Actor

Description: TERRORVISION 3000 was the first animated short released by Percolate Galactic. It is strange. It is borderline incoherent. It is low budget to the point of having some of the sound recorded with an iPhone. It concludes with one of the animation staff members crooning loudly to the theme of ‘Jurassic Park’ as, on screen, the world ends in a hailstorm of durians.

It was the kind of film where a studio finds their voice and figures out how a group of extremely abnormal humans will work together. It was glorious.

Despite being made on a budget of less than $2K USD, the film was somehow nominated for the Piala Citra Best Animation Award in 2018 — the Indonesian equivalent of the Academy Awards. TERRORVISION 3000 lost and the presenter mispronounced the names of the film, our studio, and the director during a live national TV broadcast. It was one of the coolest moments of my life.

For TERRORVISION 3000, I wrote the script, did voice acting, art directed one of the interstitial scenes, assisted with the sound design, and later explained to my very confused mom what was going on in the film.
